School Information: EESAC

The South Miami Senior Educational Excellence School advisory Committee serves as the "board of directors" of the school. EESAC is an outgrowth of state of Florida legislation creating an on-site input into important curriculum decisions. EESAC has two main tasks: creation of the annual school improvement plan (SIP) and expenditure of funds to aid each student with academic success.

Recent expenditures have purchased technology and provided tutoring in FCAT, mathematics, and language arts. EESAC provides the impetus for the Saturday morning FCAT classes. Membership in EESAC is designed so that faculty are never a majority of members. Sitting on EESAC are:

· The Principal
· The Steward of United Teacher of Dade
· 5 Teachers
· 3 Parents
· 4 Students
· 1 Community representative
· 2 Support staff members

All EESAC decisions are by consensus. Three years ago ESSAC proudly led the school to its most recent recertification by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools(SACS). Meetings are held as needed.
