- The meeting started at 2:50 in the Media Center.
- Minutes from the previous
meeting were approved.
- The Media Center gave a presentation regarding their
recent visit to Phillis Wheatley Elementary where Library Council members
gifted books to first graders and then read with them. The presentation demonstrated
the
use of pod casts; this will be something to look forward to in our school
website.
- Next, Ms. Tudor presented the midyear SIP report which was approved.
- New business
included the approval of a new mission statement and update on uniforms.
The new mission statement will be “SMSH: Preparing our students to succeed
in tomorrow’s global community.” The uniform update is that the
school board is set to amend their uniform policy. In the future schools
will initiate a uniform vote only after EESAC approval. The committee voted
to commence
with an election circa April 2008.
- *Last but not least, some students voiced
their concerns over the lack of communication with certain teachers (not
named) and some teaching practices that they feel were inappropriate, unchallenging,
and bias. They are also looking for ways to evaluate teacher performance
midyear.
- The meeting adjourned at 3:39PM
*While the situation is out of EESAC control their concerns about the quality
of their education is noted since they were present to speak at the meeting.
Humberto Ferre has a nice new haircut and the coconut cake was delicious.
See you next year...
