Ms. Galeri's Honors Government/Economics classes put together a mock Republican presidential debate for a segment on the Channel One news program. The SMSH Social Studies department uses the Channel One newscast at the start of each class asa a primer for the day's instructions. Click here for videos and images of the event.
South Miami's magnet students made a big impact at FIU's 2nd Annual College of Law Art Competition - we took all five prizes this year! Winning artworks become part of the College of Law's art collection and will be displayed throughout their building. The winners are:

South Miami Senior High Engineering Society (SMSHES) team “Strange” (Amanda Pochat, Jose Perris, Jesse Torres) won the 2012 American Society of Mechanical Engineers “E” week Build-It competition at the University of Miami.
Mrs. Bernie Fernandez has been chosen as one of ten recipients of the 2012 "Un Maestro Especial" Award presented by Univision 23. Bernie was recognized for her innovated and creative teaching style that she brings to her ASD classroom daily. She will be honored at a luncheon and her profile will air on Univision 23.
