- Congratulations to the SMSH girl's soccer team for their
huge 5-1 win against Booker T Washington On Tuesday.
- The
Social Studies Department hosted a demonstration of the
new voting machines for the 2008 elections in the Media
Center on October 20th, 2008. Students were shown how
the new election ballot machine operates and were told
of the different ways of voting. Click on the banner

- Attention parents, October 28th is the first PTSA meeting
for the school year at 6:30pm in
the auditorium.
- COBRA Spirit Night at .
On Wednesday, October 15th; 15% of sales sold at the Chick-Fil
-A at 7501 N. Kendall Drive between the hours of 5 - 8 p.m.
on Wednesday, October 15th will go back towards our school.
Invite ALL your friends and family members to join us for
this fun filled event (please be sure all friends and family
members mention to cashier that they are here for Spirit
Night!!!
- The next EESAC meeting is scheduled for Wed., Oct. 15 at
2:40 pm in the Media Center. This meeting is open to the
public. Students, parents, and teachers are encouraged to
attend.
- Attention parents, the 2008-2009 Parent/Teacher conferences
listed below have been canceled district wide for all high
schools.

- Homecoming is near and SGA would like to invite clubs/classes
and homerooms to participate in the Homecoming Hallway Banner/
Classroom Door Contest! Banners and door decorations may
reflect the homecoming rival team - Southwest Senior and/or
the homecoming dance these "Hollywood" Decorations
must be up by October 10th.
SGA members will select judges to judge the decorations on October 13th. The
top three winners will receive prizes. Banner paper, paint and brushes are
available in the Activities Office.
- Miami HEAT Special Offer to Benefit United Way. Tickets
for the Miami Heat vs Sacramento Kings on Friday, October
31st @ 7:30 pm at American Airlines Arena. Must order and
pay for tickets by October 7th. Support the Student United
Way Campaign! Email Ms.

held on October 18, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to midnight at Signature
Gardens located at 12725 SW 122nd Avenue.

- Florida International University will be visiting
SMSH on October 1st at 1:30 pm. Please sign up in the
Guidance with Mrs. Manchola.
- The University of Pennsylvania will be coming to
Miami on Thursday October 2, 2008 at 7:30pm at the
Fort Lauderdale Marriot North 6650 N. Andrews Ave.
- Duke University will be in Miami on Sunday October
5, 2008 at 3:00 pm at the Historical Museum of Southern
Florida 101 West Flagler Street. To RSVP go to www.admissions.duke.edu
- In an effort to fundraiser, we are partnering with the
Miami Dolphins to sell game tickets (Upper Corner/Endzone
Seats). Tickets are sold for $20.00 (per ticket). The ticket
face value is $52.00. If interested, come by the Activities
Office. Tickets are available for the following games:
- Miami Dolphins vs Buffalo Bills; Sunday, October 26th
- 1:00 p.m.
- Miami Dolphins vs Oakland Raiders; Sunday, November 16th
- 1:00 p.m.
- Representatives from New York University will be visiting
