MDCPS Code of Student Conduct
Acceptable Conduct:
Schools are established for the benefit of all students.
The educational goals of the school are accomplished best in a climate where student behavior is socially acceptable and
conducive to the teaching and learning process. Student behavior which disrupts this process or which infringes upon the
rights of other individuals will not be tolerated.
South Miami Senior High School will provide a structured learning environment conducive to the intellectual development of
students. The ability to reason and think is part of the development of all students. The faculty and staff will encourage a
desirable display of self-discipline by holding students responsible for their actions. Students are expected to respect and
abide by the following school regulations:
1. Use spoken expressions of consideration toward others (e.g. excuse
me, please, etc.)
2. Care for texts, furniture, equipment, and rooms to that they are clean, unmarked, and in usable condition.
3. Refrain from fighting.
4. Refrain from intimidating, harassing, or threatening others.
5. Refrain from the use of profane language or gestures.
6. Refrain from being disrespectful to another’s property.
7. Refrain from leaving the school grounds during school hours without written permission.
8. Refrain from throwing objects in the building other than in the gym area when supervised.
9. Walk through the halls and stay to the right; do not run.
10. Take one step at a time when going up and down stairs; keep to the right.
11. Keep moving when passing between classes unless opening lockers or waiting at a drinking fountain.
12. Take personal pride in our school and school grounds; don’t
be a litterbug or write on school walls.
13. Leave school buildings and grounds promptly after dismissal unless a definite arrangement has been made with a teacher, such as practices, rehearsals, and/or detentions.
14. Keep moving and leave the parking lot immediately when walking through or going to your car.
15. Refrain from sitting in stairways.
No student is allowed in the halls during class time without an official orange or yellow hall pass.
