Welcome to the South Miami Senior High Robotics

The SMSH Robotics began to take shape in 2007 and since then has joined the top ranks among Miami Dade County Public School's robotics programs. South Miami Senior High has won the district's Technology Robotics Division Competition for three year in a row.

Our improved robotics lab area now includes a test track for student designed robots and an adjacent computer lab.

• On March 1, 2012 South Miami Senior’s two robotics teams represented Miami-Dade County Public Schools at the Annual ION Mini-Urban Challenge Robotics competition in Valparaiso, Florida. The Mini-Urban Challenge is a national competition sponsored by The Institute of Navigation and the United States Air Force Research Laboratory that challenges high school students to design and operate a robotic car to autonomously navigate a model city. Our teams finished first and second in the Florida Regional Competition and will be representing the Southeastern US Region in the national competition to be held on May 26, 2012 in Washington DC. There will only be 10 teams at the national finals and South Miami Senior will have both teams in the competition. This is a tremendous achievement, having two teams among the top 10 in the nation. Our goal is to have both teams finished in the top three in the nation.
