To help promote the 2007 Big Read, the Media Center featured a new multimedia display to raise awareness of the Ernest Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms. The display featured information on Big Read events, offers of free copies of the novel and a selection of World War I and Hemingway books from the collection. On March 23 2007, South Miami Senior High was invited to participate in an event with writer James Meredith at Miami Dade College North Campus for the Big Read. Two field trips to the Wolfsonian Museum on Miami Beach to tour the site's extensive WWI era collection rounded out the year's Big Read events.
